Dearest Astoria and beyond,
When we opened The Queens Kickshaw in March of 2011, we had a simple goal of creating a warm meeting spot in the neighborhood where friends could gather for some good food and drink.
In over six years and a half years we are honored to have met so many of you, fostered lasting connections, and collaborated with local purveyors and partners. We have endeavored to create something unique for our community, and hope that we made a positive impact in some way.
It has also been our incredible privilege to have been a launching pad for so many talented people who have worked at Kickshaw. They are chefs, dancers, beverage professionals, singers, poets, writers, PhD pursuers, activists, photographers, filmmakers, sound engineers, moms, and dads. We are honored to have both challenged and supported them.
Now comes the next chapter in which we address growing business challenges, and reinvent ourselves. The Kickshaw spirit will stay in place, though the food and beverage will change. We will maintain our mission of being a supportive workplace while envisioning a new gathering spot for the neighborhood.
Our last day will be Sunday, August 27. Our hours of operation will remain the same until then, and we will have a closing party Sunday night, 8/27, 6-11pm. All are welcome!
After a revamp, we will reopen as an entirely different restaurant at the same location in early October. To be among the first to hear about what's up, submit your email below.
If you aren't able to visit Kickshaw in the next couple of weeks but would like to support the new project, we are pre-selling opening week dinner tickets.
If you would like to share some nice words about your experience at Kickshaw, whether it was for morning coffee, or a first date, or brunch with a long lost friend, we would love to read your memories via the comments section below.
We look forward to seeing you over the next couple of weeks, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Jen and Ben
