Live Music Series - Diallo House Trio

  • The Queens Kickshaw 40-17 Broadway Queens, NY, 11103 United States

Diallo A. House is a bassist/composer/artist hailing from Ithaca, New York. House began to cultivate his musical talent long before he received his first bass guitar at age twelve. His father Donald is also a bass player and like his dad, Diallo feels and knows the true role of the bass in any band situation, while always enhancing and progressing his musical ability.

At seventeen, House joined a college jazz ensemble and was excited to be seriously challenged by more intricate written music and arrangements. Through those formative years, House was determined to succeed and remained devoted to the music, taking private lessons from the legendary bassist Rufus Reid. Diallo was eventually honored by his college as Musician of the Year and never looked back.

House then Co-founded Hot House Jazz Group with longtime friend Michael Louis Smith. The duo played throughout the Northeast until they settled in New York City in 2002. The move was a real a test for House, who had just begun to establish himself on the new music scene. For the next year, Diallo began making his way as a sideman - sitting in at jams and partaking in informal sessions with more established musicians like the late pianist John Hicks and Saxophonists Ravi Coltrane and JD Allen.

By 2004, players in multiple genres of music from punk rock to hip-hop had caught word that House played the bass like a badass. House became an immediate hire by songwriters like Brian Jackson, Masauko Chipembere, Matt Russell, Countess Zapak, Knox Chandler, and one of hip-hop’s beloved women talents, Ladybug Mecca of Digable Planets.

In 2009, Diallo and longtime friends Stacy Dillard and Ismail Lawal produced House’s debut album “Night at the Eclipse.” The group continues to perform collectively, headlining as Brooklyn Circle.
